I like it alot.
Small size, Engine does not need water cool, simple contruction.
Hand carry without any effort, suitable to run on small model pool like ours.

What is the size of the hull?
Do you have the web site address?
Thanks

The hull is 26" long. Use the address above for his site. This might be the last one that he is building in wood. I talked to him in a chat room and the next step is to make it in epoxy 'glas which should be lighter yet! I sent Mike some pix also last night.

Thanks for the comments. In the shot it is sitting on about a foot of hardpacked snow. Needless to say, I'm a little anxious to hit some liquid water with it. I enjoy making my own hardware when I can with what I have. What you can't see in the shot is a carbon fiber servo mount that I made. Not really for weight savings, I just like carbon fiber. The strut mount is also made from the same angled CF.Kind of an old school/new school mix with the wood. Mike did such a nice job of building the hull that I couldn't paint it! It is clear-coated though with Formula-U.

Yes I do. I have a speed chart for most props at certain RPM ranges also figuring in slippage. If I could get near the advertised RPM of the motor with the prop that is now on it, the thing ought to be a record breaker. Yeah, right.:)

If you have microsoft excel you can try this.
http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pred.htm enter 1 in volts and total rpm at the top

I took it to a Swap meet today and Wade came down with his Hammerhead .12. They both got a lot of attention. If we had kits of both, we could have sold some with no trouble!

Fill in the RPM field, 100% in the "Enter Motor Efficiency" field and than 1 volt in the "voltage" field. This will give a rough est. on what speed you will get out of the prop. But that's considering you pick the right prop!

Like I said thats with a good choice of prop. To big of prop and overload than the rpm drops and so does the mph.

I've got more shots of this boat if you need them from different angles. As dark as thesec pix look, they were taken in daylight with a flash! I used a disposable camera, that is why it is dark around the corners. I gotta get a digital!
According to my prop chart, with an X-437/3 @ 30,000 RPM with 15% slippage this boat ought to hit 50 MPH! The motor is rated at 38-43,000 RPM. I'd be happy to see 40 myself.

What you'll have is a handful if the motor can turn that prop. In my Speedmaster 21, I have a strong Rossi Niagara that is turning a Prather 220 which is larger than what most people run in their .21's. I have a new Octura M445 that I'm going to try when the ponds thaw that looks almost like the P 220.
I'm happy to see these postings, it's helping to get this site in gear!

'Glas tanks? I would guess that they would work. You'd have to clean them out really well so that no contamination would get into the fuel. I like the plastic ones or the fuel cells made by Grimracer. I have several of his and they work great.
